PRESS RELEASE
The IPSO Alliance and the IPv6 Forum
Forge a worldwide Partnership to drive Interoperability for Internet of
Things
Sophia-Antipolis/Luxembourg March 22, 2010 - The IPSO Alliance and the IPv6
Forum have joined forces to promote a common platform of interoperability
based on the IPv6 Ready Logo Program and drive thereby harmonized deployment
of Internet of Things (IoT) based on IPv6. Forum members will jointly
benefit from this awareness and interop initiative in sharing essential
knowledge in their key events and in seeking and designing new joint
initiatives on a worldwide basis.
"IPv6 is a solid base for the Internet of Things. The IPSO alliance and its
support to the IETF work on ROLL and 6LoWPAN will enable IoT devices and
apps to scale and interoperate igniting future end-to-end innovation and
invention of next-generation services and apps not even imagined today",
emphasizes Latif Ladid, President of the IPv6 Forum & Emeritus Trustee
Internet Society.
"The Internet Protocol and specifically IPv6 are key to the networking of
smart objects. I'm delighted to see our two organizations working together
on interoperability test suites and certification programs leveraging the
best of class IPv6 ready logo program. This will dramatically help this
industry to scale to a worldwide range." said Patrick Wetterwald, IPSO
Alliance President.
"This partnership between the IPv6 Forum and IPSO is a very important
milestone for IoT based on IPv6. It will enhance the IPv6 Ready Logo
program, industry-standard measure of IPv6 capability and interoperability,
to include test categories for devices, like IP based smart objects, with
non-Ethernet based access media." states Yanick Pouffary, NAv6TF Technology
Director, IPv6 Forum Fellow and IPv6 Forum (Ready & Enabled) Logo Programs
Chairperson.
"Smart objects using Internet Protocols is a promising field for an
efficient and creative smart digital space .The use of IPv6 for networking
smart objects is of strategic value. The cooperation between IPSO and IPv6
Forum will be fruitful and beneficial to the Internet at large". States Dr.
Hiroshi Esaki, co-chair IPv6 Promotion Council, Japan, Trustee Internet
Society and Chair IPv6 Ready Logo Program.
About the IPSO Alliance
Intended to complement the efforts of entities such as the Internet
Engineering Task Force (IETF) and the Institute of Electrical and
Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which develop and ratify technical standards
in the Internet community, the IPSO Alliance performs ("performs" or
"organizes"?) interoperability tests, documents the use of new IP-based
technologies, conducts marketing activities and serves as an information
repository for users seeking to understand the role of IP in networks of
physical objects. IPSO Alliance membership is open to any organization
advocating an IP-based approach to connecting smart objects.

About the IPv6 Forum
The IPv6 Forum is a world-wide consortium of leading Internet service
vendors, National Research & Education Networks (NRENs) and international
ISPs, with a clear mission to promote IPv6 by improving market and user
awareness, creating a quality and secure Next Generation Internet and
allowing world-wide equitable access to knowledge and technology. The key
focus of the IPv6 Forum today is to provide technical guidance for the
deployment of interoperability thru its IPv6 Ready & Enabled Logo Programs :
